Baked Spaghetti and Meatballs

🧾 Ingredients

For the pasta:

  • 250–300g spaghetti
  • Salt (for boiling water)

For meatballs:

  • 400–500g ground beef or chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 3–4 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt & pepper
  • ½ tsp Italian herbs (optional)

For sauce:

  • 2 cups tomato pasta sauce (or marinara)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For topping:

  • 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Optional: parmesan, oregano

👨‍🍳 How to make it

1. Cook meatballs

  • Mix meat ingredients and form small balls
  • Pan-fry lightly until browned (they don’t need to be fully cooked yet)

2. Make sauce

  • Heat oil, sauté onion + garlic
  • Add tomato sauce and simmer 5–10 minutes
  • Add meatballs and cook until done

3. Cook spaghetti

  • Boil until just al dente (slightly firm)
  • Drain

4. Assemble

  • Mix spaghetti with some sauce
  • Place in a baking dish
  • Add meatballs and remaining sauce on top
  • Cover with mozzarella

5. Bake

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes
  • Cheese should be melted and slightly golden

🍽️ Result

You get a baked pasta dish with:

  • Soft spaghetti base
  • Juicy meatballs
  • Rich tomato sauce
  • Gooey melted cheese on top
