Oven Fried Chicken Legs

Oven Fried Chicken Legs 🍗 (crispy without deep frying)

Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside—these taste like fried chicken but are baked in the oven.


Ingredients

  • 6–8 chicken legs (drumsticks)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed cornflakes for extra crunch)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2–3 tbsp oil or melted butter

How to make them

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Pat chicken dry (important for crispiness).
  3. Mix flour + spices in one bowl.
  4. Beat eggs in another bowl.
  5. Coat chicken:
    • flour mixture → egg → breadcrumbs
  6. Place on a baking tray lined with foil or parchment.
  7. Lightly drizzle or brush with oil/butter.
  8. Bake for 35–45 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and cooked through.

Tips for extra crispiness

  • Use cornflakes instead of breadcrumbs for a crunchier crust
  • Don’t overcrowd the tray
  • Let chicken rest 5 minutes after baking
  • Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for extra crisp
