Garlic Butter Steak and Potato Foil Packets
A simple, hearty meal with tender steak, buttery potatoes, and garlic that can be cooked on the grill or in the oven.
Ingredients (4 servings)
- 1½ lb (680 g) sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 lb (450 g) baby potatoes, halved or quartered
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the mixture
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C) or oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine potatoes, olive oil, half the garlic, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Add steak cubes and toss with the remaining garlic and melted butter.
2. Assemble the packets
- Cut four large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
- Divide the potato mixture among the sheets.
- Top with the steak pieces.
- Drizzle any remaining garlic butter over each packet.
- Seal the foil tightly to form packets.
3. Cook
Grill:
- Cook 12–15 minutes, turning once halfway through.
Oven:
- Bake 20–25 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and steak reaches your preferred doneness.
4. Finish
- Carefully open the packets (hot steam will escape).
- Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately.
Variations
- Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or onions.
- Use ribeye or strip steak for extra richness.
- Add grated Parmesan just before serving.
- For extra heat, sprinkle with red pepper flakes.
