“Pour apple cider over pork butt, along with just 1 extra ingredient, into slow cooker for a pull-apart meal that’s always a yes in my house.” I offer you this recipe in exchange for a simple “Yum”

Yum 😋

That headline is usually referring to an ultra-simple slow cooker pulled pork recipe:

Apple Cider Pulled Pork (2 Ingredients)

Ingredients

  • 1 pork butt (pork shoulder), about 3–5 lb
  • 1–2 cups apple cider
  • 1 packet onion soup mix (the common “one extra ingredient” in many versions of this recipe)

Instructions

  1. Place the pork butt in the slow cooker.
  2. Pour the apple cider around it.
  3. Sprinkle the onion soup mix over the pork.
  4. Cook on Low for 8–10 hours or High for 5–6 hours, until the meat falls apart easily with a fork.
  5. Shred the pork and mix it with some of the cooking juices.

Serving Ideas

  • Piled onto sandwich buns
  • In tacos or burritos
  • Over mashed potatoes
  • On baked potatoes
  • Alongside coleslaw

The apple cider adds sweetness and moisture, while the onion soup mix provides most of the seasoning, resulting in tender, flavorful pulled pork with very little effort.
