Tomato sauce

Tomato sauce is a basic, versatile sauce made from tomatoes and aromatics—used in pasta, pizza, stews, and many dishes.

Classic Tomato Sauce 🍅

Ingredients

  • 2–3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 3–4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (or fresh blended tomatoes)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
  • Basil or oregano

How to make it

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan.
  2. Sauté onion until soft.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in tomatoes and stir.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and herbs.
  6. Simmer 15–30 minutes until thickened.
  7. Add a pinch of sugar if it tastes too sour.

Tips
