Ingredients

  • 500g (1 lb) ground beef or chicken
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 3–4 cups cabbage (shredded)
  • 1 cup cooked rice (or uncooked if baking longer)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce (or 1½ cups passata)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt (to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1–2 tbsp oil

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook meat
    • Heat oil in a pan
    • Brown ground beef with onion and garlic
  2. Add flavor
    • Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, and spices
    • Simmer 5–10 minutes
  3. Add cabbage
    • Mix shredded cabbage into the pan
    • Cook until slightly softened
  4. Combine
    • Stir in cooked rice (or layer if baking raw rice version)
  5. Bake (optional but best)
    • Transfer to baking dish
