SENIORS, USE BAKING SODA THIS WAY and watch 13 health problems disappear!

That headline is misleading clickbait. It promises a cure-all, which isn’t supported by medical evidence.

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) does have a few legitimate uses, but it does not make “13 health problems disappear.”

What baking soda can legitimately be used for

  • Temporary relief of occasional heartburn when used exactly as directed.
  • Certain medical treatments under a healthcare professional’s supervision.
  • Household cleaning and deodorizing.

What it does not do

There is no good scientific evidence that baking soda cures or reverses conditions such as:

  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Cancer
  • Dementia
  • Most infections

Risks, especially for older adults

Taking baking soda regularly or in large amounts can:

  • Increase sodium intake, which may worsen high blood pressure or heart failure.
