Ooey gooey bars

🍫 Ooey Gooey Bars (Classic Cream Cheese Dessert)

These are rich, soft, and slightly “fudgy-custard” bars with a cookie-like base and creamy top layer.

🧾 Ingredients

Base layer:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (or vanilla cake mix)
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 egg

Cream layer:

  • 225g cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3–4 cups powdered sugar (adjust for sweetness)

👨‍🍳 How to make them

1. Prepare the base

  • Mix cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg
  • Press into a greased baking pan (don’t overthink it—just an even layer)

2. Make the gooey topping

  • Beat cream cheese until smooth
  • Add eggs + vanilla
  • Slowly mix in powdered sugar until thick and creamy

3. Assemble

  • Pour cream mixture over the base layer
  • Spread evenly

4. Bake

  • Bake at 175°C (350°F) for about 35–45 minutes
  • Center should still be slightly soft (that’s the “gooey” part)

5. Cool completely

  • Let it cool fully before cutting (important for texture)

🍽️ Result

  • Bottom: soft cookie-like crust
  • Top: creamy, custard-like layer
  • Texture: rich, sweet, “melts in your mouth”

đź’ˇ Tips

  • Don’t overbake (they should stay slightly jiggly in the center)
  • Chill them for cleaner slices
  • Add chocolate chips or caramel drizzle for extra indulgence

If you want, I can also give you a chocolate version, brownie-base version, or 3-ingredient shortcut version.
