That feeling is more common than it seems. It usually shows up when you’re being exposed to a lot of information (especially online) and it starts to feel like you’re “behind” on things everyone else supposedly knows.
But a lot of those “you should already know this” ideas are misleading. In reality:
- People learn different things at different times
- A lot of online content is simplified or exaggerated
- Even adults constantly run into new things they didn’t know before
So it’s less “I should already know this” and more “I’m still building my understanding like everyone else.”
If it helps, you don’t have to treat every post or topic as something you’re expected to master. You can just filter it into:
- Useful to me right now
- Interesting but not important
- Just clickbait noise
And it’s also okay to step back from this kind of content when it starts feeling mentally heavy. Constant “warning” or “you’re doing it wrong” style posts are designed to create anxiety and keep people scrolling—not to genuinely teach.
If you want, tell me what’s been making you feel this way lately and I can help sort through it with you in a way that feels less overwhelming.
