Does anyone know what kind of insect this is? I just found it on my son’s head…

I can help, but I’ll need a bit more info (or ideally a photo).

Right now, there isn’t enough detail to identify the insect reliably—many common ones found on a child’s head can look similar.

📸 If you can, send:

  • A clear photo of the insect (close-up if possible)
  • Or describe it:
    • size (tiny like a sesame seed? or bigger?)
    • color
    • does it jump, fly, or crawl slowly?
    • was it stuck to hair or just on the head?

🧠 Common possibilities (just for context)

If it was on the scalp, it could be:

  • Head lice → tiny, tan/gray, cling to hair shafts, move slowly
  • Flea → small, dark, jumps quickly
  • Booklice or small beetle → usually harmless, accidental contact
  • Mosquito or gnat → just landed briefly

⚠️ Quick reassurance

Most insects found on the head are harmless visitors—but if it looks like it’s stuck to hair or there are multiple, lice becomes more likely.

If you upload a picture, I’ll help identify it much more accurately.
