- 450g (1 lb) fresh okra, washed and sliced into ½-inch rounds
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk or buttermilk

- Flour
