Doritos Taco Casserole

Doritos Taco Casserole is a crowd-pleasing comfort food that layers seasoned taco meat, cheese, and crunchy Doritos chips into a hearty baked casserole.

Doritos Taco Casserole (6–8 servings)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tbsp homemade taco seasoning)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can (10 oz / 280 g) diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) black beans, drained and rinsed (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican-blend cheese
  • 1 bag (9–10 oz / 255–285 g) nacho cheese Doritos, lightly crushed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 g) cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Mix in the tomatoes and black beans.
  5. In a bowl, combine the sour cream and soup.
  6. Spread half of the crushed Doritos in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Layer half of the meat mixture, then half of the sour cream mixture, and half of the cheese.
  8. Repeat the layers, finishing with cheese on top.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
  10. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

  • Extra sour cream

Tips

  • Use spicy Doritos for extra heat.
  • Substitute shredded chicken for the ground beef.
  • Add corn or pinto beans for more texture and flavor.
  • For maximum crunch, sprinkle an extra handful of crushed Doritos on top just before serving.

This casserole pairs well with a simple green salad, Mexican-style rice, or refried beans.
