  • 4 cups chicken broth

For the dumplings

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • ½ cup milk

1. Build the base

  • Melt butter in a large pot

3. Add chicken

  • Add shredded chicken and thyme

4. Make dumpling dough

  • Mix flour, baking powder, and salt
  • Add melted butter and milk
  • Stir until just combined (don’t overmix)

5. Cook dumplings

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough into simmering stew
  • Cover with lid
  • Cook 12–15 minutes without lifting lid too often

  • Dumplings should be fluffy and cooked through
